TREAD is a collaborative project with KU Leuven, Belgium in the framework of CELSA Alliance. The project investigates the environmental impact of tyre wear microplastic particles, a significant source of non-exhaust emissions. It addresses critical knowledge gaps, particularly regarding smaller microplastics (<10 μm), by developing advanced analytical detection methods and integrating them with ecotoxicological assessments on aquatic plants. TREAD not only pursues impactful scientific objectives but also lays the foundation for a long-term collaborative partnership. The project aligns with European environmental priorities, including the Green Deal, the Zero Pollution Action Plan, and the Euro 7 standards.

Duration of the project: 1.10.2025 – 30.9.2027
