CLEAR-WATER is an EU-funded project that aims to develop harmonised approaches for monitoring and assessing aquatic litter across Europe, from freshwater to marine environments and from macro-litter to micro- and nanoplastics. By developing and validating sampling and analytical methods, integrating monitoring data with modelling and ecological risk assessment, and testing approaches under real-world conditions, the project will improve our understanding of aquatic litter pollution and support more reliable, comparable data for environmental assessment and policy.
